Comfortable Start to August, Uncomfortable Week Ahead

August started off on a near-perfect note, with the exception of elevated wildfire smoke. The coolest morning of the summer was also recorded this morning.

This comfortable pattern is expected to continue through the first weekend of August before we see a turn-up in the warmth and humidity.

Friday night: Expect an even cooler night with lows falling into the upper 50s. If Indianapolis drops below 61 degrees by Saturday morning, it will be the coolest morning of the summer so far. Skies will be mostly clear.

Saturday: Pleasant air is expected to continue, with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. However, persistent elevated wildfire smoke could lower air quality for some areas. Highs are expected to reach the upper 70s to low 80s.

Sunday: Sunday is expected to be a touch warmer, but it should still be a gorgeous early August day with no weather issues. Highs are expected to reach the low 80s.

7-Day Forecast: As we enter next week, our pleasant weather pattern will start to unravel. The humidity and temperature will rise, with highs expected to return above normal by Wednesday. This could lead to temperatures near 90 degrees into next weekend. This change towards a more uncomfortable setting will be accompanied by some chances for showers and storms.
