Cool Temperatures Expected to Persist This Week

Cool temperatures are expected to persist in Indianapolis and surrounding areas over the next couple of days, with below-normal afternoons and cooler conditions expected tonight.

"Some spots fell into the '40s this morning," said a weather forecaster. "We will continue to see temperatures warm up later this afternoon but we will be below normal. Look for lots of sunshine today with winds out of the north and northwest 5 to 10 mph. High temperatures climb near 73, which is about 10° below normal for this time of year."

Tonight, cool conditions are expected across much of the state, with temperatures falling near 50. The record low for tonight is 48. Mostly clear skies are expected through much of the night.

The last time we saw temperatures into the 40s in August was back on August 15, 2014, when we fell to 49 degrees.

In the extended forecast, Thursday is expected to start partly cloudy, with a cold front moving through that may bring spotty showers later in the afternoon and early evening. High temperatures are expected to climb near 76°.

The holiday weekend weather looks okay, with sunny skies and mid-70s temperatures expected for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Early next week, Monday is expected to see temperatures a little bit warmer, closer to normal for this time of year, into the upper 70s and near 80.
