Indianapolis Man Charged with Armed Robbery of Three Workers Installing Siding
INDIANAPOLIS — A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing three workers at gunpoint while they were installing siding on a house.
The incident occurred on Saturday in the 3000 block of N. Central Avenue. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) responded to reports of the robbery.
Upon arrival, the three workers explained that a man had approached them seeking employment. When they informed him that there were no job openings, he reportedly brandished a firearm and demanded their money.
The suspect is said to have taken the wallets of all three men before fleeing north through an alley adjacent to Central Avenue.
During their investigation, police discovered that the suspect had entered a nearby residence. They established a perimeter around the area and waited for him to exit.
When he did come out, officers observed him attempting to flee while reaching into his waistband and discarding an item.
With assistance from a K-9 unit, IMPD was able to apprehend the 25-year-old male suspect. Authorities also recovered a black handgun with an extended magazine that he had discarded during his escape attempt.
It has been reported that the suspect was prohibited from possessing a firearm. He now faces charges of robbery, resisting arrest, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
