Man Seriously Hurt in Downtown Indianapolis Brawl, Suspect in Custody
A man was left critically injured after a brawl broke out in downtown Indianapolis, and police were able to apprehend the suspect just hours later. The incident occurred on Monday afternoon at around 5:20 pm in the 700 block of East Market Street, west of I-65/I-70.
According to reports, multiple witnesses provided descriptions of the suspect, who was reportedly using a blunt force object as a weapon. Officers responded to the scene and found Fritz Bernier unconscious in the street. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
"A police report says the weapon was a blunt force object."
A short while later, Cortney Coleman, 38, was arrested in the 500 block of East Market Street. Coleman has been preliminarily charged with attempted murder, and the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make a final decision on what charges he will face in court.
