Northern Indiana Veterans Gain Easier Access to Dental Care with New Clinic
Veterans in northern Indiana's Kosciusko County will no longer have to travel over 50 miles for dental services, thanks to a new clinic opened by Bowen Health. The $10 million center is the health care provider's first with a dental office, and it also offers expanded primary health care, mental health care, addiction recovery treatment, and life skills coaching services to the entire community.
“Sadly, access to medical care, especially dental care, is a big deal for so many people. I’m so excited to be a part of a team where that’s not going to be the case anymore. We can see patients, and we can take care of them regardless of their ability to pay.”
Dr. Colin Spencer, who will head up the dentistry unit, expressed his enthusiasm for being part of a team that prioritizes access to health care. Commissioner Cary Groninger, who attended the clinic's opening along with other leaders, praised the development, saying it would make a significant difference in the community.
Kosciusko County Sheriff Jim Smith, a member of the Bowen Health Board of Directors, said at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, “It started as a vision. It’s now a reality, and you guys are all here to witness it. I think we all agree that a healthier community promotes a safer community. So very blessed to be a part of it.”
Kosciusko County, with an estimated 80,200 residents, is located in northern Indiana, roughly halfway between South Bend and Fort Wayne.
The new clinic at 901 Anchorage Point Drive on Warsaw's north side marks Bowen Health's third new building along U.S. 30, following others in Columbia City and Plymouth. Construction is underway on new clinics along U.S. 24 in Wabash and Huntington.
