Alex Palou Sweeps Sonsio Grand Prix for Third Consecutive Year

Alex Palou has made history by sweeping the Sonsio Grand Prix for the third consecutive year, becoming the first driver to achieve this feat.

Palou's dominance was evident throughout the race, as he started on pole and led for 29 laps. He crossed the finish line in just over an hour and 48 minutes at an average speed of 115.2 miles per hour.

"It feels amazing," Palou said. "It's a place that's been really good for us. It's really tough, like today, I started on pole, and Graham (Rahal) didn't want me to lead for more than 250 feet, but he did a great job."

Palou also credited his team with having the fastest car at the end of the race, saying, "I was just able to be comfortable at the front." He added that momentum is everything, especially during this busy month of back-to-back races.

This win marks Palou's fourth victory in five races this season, cementing his position as the NTT IndyCar Series Championship leader. He joins Simon Pagenaud and Will Power as three-time winners of the Sonsio Grand Prix.

Graham Rahal finished sixth, having led the most laps (49), but struggled to maintain his lead throughout the race. Pato O'Ward and Will Power rounded out the podium, with Scott McLaughlin finishing fourth and Scott Dixon fifth.

The only yellow flag of the race came 16 laps from the end, when David Malukas went off-track, bringing an early caution to the race.

The Month of May continues at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway with Pole Day on Sunday, May 18, followed by the 109th Running of the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 25.
