Gibbs Takes Top Spot in NASCAR In-Season Challenge

Ty Gibbs of Joe Gibbs Racing took home the top spot in the NASCAR In-Season Challenge, securing a $1 million prize by beating Ty Dillon at the Brickyard 400. Despite finishing 21st overall and placing behind Dillon's 28th-place finish, Gibbs' focus shifted from competing for a race win to securing the challenge title towards the end of the event.

"It's super cool and very honored to be in this position and very blessed to be in this position," Gibbs said.

Joe Gibbs, Ty's grandfather and team owner, echoed similar sentiments: "I think it says a lot for our guys. They just kept fighting and ended up getting it, so that was great."

"We were kind of out of position to go win the race," Gibbs said. "It was just, most important was to focus on this and kind of looking at the bigger picture."

Gibbs entered the challenge as the No. 6 seed in the bracket, ultimately besting Justin Haley, AJ Allmendinger, Zane Smith, Tyler Reddick, and Dillon en route to his $1 million title.

In related news, Bubba Wallace took home the Brickyard 400 win on Sunday, with the race finishing in double overtime. Kyle Larson finished second and Denny Hamlin placed third.
