Iowa Star Caitlin Clark Out Again, This Time Missing 15th Consecutive Game Due to Injury

Iowa Star Caitlin Clark will miss her 15th consecutive game due to injury, as she recovers from a right groin strain suffered on July 15th during a game against the Connecticut Sun.

Clark has been ruled out for Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Lynx.

In addition to her groin injury, Clark also suffered a bone bruise in her ankle during practice, but reports indicate that this injury shouldn't significantly delay her return to the court.

Fever head coach Stephanie White hopes to have Clark back on the court before the end of the regular season, but is prioritizing her long-term health and wellness over rushing her back. "I think the experience throughout the year, trying to come back quickly, taught her that she needs to make sure she's 100%," White said. "Yes, every competitor wants to play. But at the same time, doing it the right way and making sure that after we've had a couple of setbacks that we're prioritizing her long-term health and wellness is the most important thing."

Clark is just one of five Fever players ruled out for Sunday's game against the Lynx, joining Chloe Bibby, Sydney Colson, Sophie Cunningham, and Aari McDonald. Cunningham will miss the remainder of the season after tearing her right MCL during last weekend's game.

This will be Clark's 24th regular season game missed this season, in addition to missing the Commissioner's Cup championship game, the All-Star Game, and Three-Point Contest during All-Star Weekend.

Clark has averaged 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game in 13 games played this season.

The Fever are currently 6th in the WNBA standings with a record of 19-17, and will tip off against the Lynx in Minneapolis Sunday at 7 p.m. Eastern.
