Join IPS' Grade 3-6 Hockey Team Development Program
A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be, as Wayne Gretzky once said. And that's exactly what Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is aiming to do with their Grade 3-6 Hockey Team Development Program.
The district is seeking 25 students in grades 3-6 to join weekly practices and scrimmages starting in the fall. The program, designed to teach skating and hockey basics, will provide full gear to participants thanks to a secured grant.
"The focus will be on teaching students to skate and introducing them to hockey in a fun and engaging way," said the blog post from the district. "We're looking for students who meet their school expectations, show dedication to practice, and demonstrate coachability."
The program aims to get kids active, teach resilience and persistence, grow confidence, and foster a love for the sport.
Interested parents can contact Kathy Langdon with the IPS physical and health education department at [email protected] or text 317-681-4033 for more information. Sign-ups are open online, and the program will be in touch with participants by Aug. 16.
