Tyrese Haliburton's Journey Back: Pacers Star Opens Up About Injury Recovery
Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton is making progress in his recovery from a torn Achilles tendon, which he suffered in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
"I'm walking now on my boot," Haliburton said. "Getting closer to walking full time in my shoe, so that's exciting for me. Every couple weeks it's kind of like a new benchmark, a new achievement for me, so just being able to walk, it's like the small wins right now. It's taking it a day at a time. I have good days, bad days. But yeah, things are going well."
Haliburton has been ruled out for the entire 2025-26 season, and he doesn't have a timetable for his return.
"It's just about getting 100%, not necessarily as fast as I can, but getting 100% is important," Haliburton said. "I don't want to come back and be 85, 90%, I want to be able to come back at 100%."
Despite his injury, Haliburton remained committed to giving back to the community by hosting his annual youth basketball camp on Saturday.
"I think just showing that I'm not just, for some kids they might think I'm like this mythical being," Haliburton said. "I know I thought that way about NBA players. So it's cool to be here, be in front of the kids, get to hang out, spend some time with them. I love being around it, so it's important to me."
